Can i have my father co-sign a car loan and then later remove him?

I'm currently 17 and am looking into purchasing a new car. I have a steady job and can provide proof of income but as i'm told i can't purchase the car on my own. So could I have have my father co-sign for the loan and then when i turn 18 have him removed from the loan?

Or should i just wait untill i turn 18 as its about 2 months away..

The only reason i'm rushing now is i found the exact model car i want and want to grab it before someone else does!

Not until the loan is paid off. Once the contract is signed that's the way it's going to stay. Even after you turn 18, your chances of obtaining a loan on your own without a co-signer are slim.

well his name will be on loan and only way to get name off loan is to pay off loan why not buy a cheaper used car that you dont need a loan for and waiting to get a loan well wouldnt matter if you was 18 or 21 still first timers most cases need a cosigner

What difference does it make to have your father's name on the loan.

I makes no difference at all!

The only way to get him OFF the loan documents is to pay off the loan or refiance under your own name.

yes but you will have to wait until the loan is paid off.
